A countertop is a horizontal work surface in kitchens or other food preparation areas, bathrooms or lavatories, and workrooms in general. It is frequently installed upon and supported by cabinets. The surface is positioned at an ergonomic height for the user and the particular task for which it is designed. A countertop may be constructed of various materials with different attributes of functionality, durability, and aesthetics. The countertop may have built-in appliances, or accessory items relative to the intended application.
Our Countertop Installation service includes a detailed assessment of the area to be installed upon, once this is completed TriniHelper submits a quotation for your perusal. We supply, fabricate and install the countertop of your choice. The cost is dependent on the size of the counter needed, as well as the type chosen.
Quartz Counters - Quartz countertops are fabricated from natural quartz, one of the hardest minerals found in the Earth, and small amounts of glass or metallic flecks are added to create variety, resulting in beautiful countertops. Another advantage of quartz is that it is a non-porous material, its texture does not allow bacteria to grow and resists against stains, protecting your family and making kitchen clean-up easy. For this reason, quartz countertops never need to be sealed.
Aside from the durability that quartz provides, this material is beautiful and its wide variety of colour options are sure to catch your eye. Your options are nearly endless as quartz ranges from natural colours such as whites, blacks, and browns to other colours such as golds or blues. The design of a quartz countertop not only brings character to your kitchen but offers performance advantages that exceed other traditional materials.
As tempting as it might be to use Quartz throughout your home, you may want to rethink installing it in areas that have a high exposure to UV light. The pigments can change drastically over time after exposure to sunlight. It can certainly work for bathroom areas, it is also mold resistant, this makes it perfect for high exposure to water.
Granite Counters - Granite is an igneous rock that contains at least 20% quartz by volume. Granite, a natural stone material that comes from beneath the Earth’s surface, and is formed out of compressed molten rock over millions of years.
You will notice different flecks of colour in each piece of granite, and this comes from the different minerals that have bonded together over the years. The colour of granite depends greatly on the area it is harvested from. This is due to the different minerals that are compressed together, giving it different colours. Here at TriniHelper, we offer the satin finish to our granite countertops.
Proper care and maintenance are the key factors of keeping your granite countertops looking brand new. When your countertops are installed, they will need to be sealed. This will help prevent staining and provide scratch resistance protection as well. You will likely need to conduct regularly scheduled sealing to help maintain these features, as well as durability and overall appearance. As you have learned, granite is a very durable, natural material, making it perfect for kitchen countertops. And, with all of the finish, colour, and edge options you will easily find the perfect match for your kitchen. With a little daily maintenance, proper care, and sealing, granite countertops can last a lifetime and will be definitely worth your investment.
Solid Surface Counters - Solid surface is a man-made material that is most frequently used for seamless countertop installations. Solid surface is a non-porous low-maintenance material used for surfaces such as countertops. It can mimic the appearance of granite, marble, stone, and other naturally occurring materials, and can be joined nearly invisibly by a trained craftsman. Typically manufactured in sheet form for fabrication into finished countertops, solid-surface can also be cast into a variety of shapes, including sinks, shower pans, and bathtubs.
A major appeal of solid surface is its impermeability. Engineered composites have a gel-coat surface finish which makes them impervious to bacteria, staining and most of the problems inherent in natural stone. Solid surface sinks can be joined to the countertop surface with no gaps, which eliminates areas for water to collect and bacteria to grow. Integral backsplashes can also be created that follow the contours of the wall “seamlessly” and without gaps.
Should the material become scratched or broken, solid-surface can, in most cases, be repaired quickly by a certified solid surface repair company or trained fabricator. Because the surface is solid throughout, a countertop that has undergone years of wear and tear can be refinished. The installed product is available in a variety of finishes, ranging from matte to high-gloss, although most manufacturers recommend a matte or satin finish for ease of maintenance.
